Nankang Launches Noble Sport NS-20 UHP Summer Tyre

Nankang has announced the launch of the Noble Sport NS-20, a new ultra-high performance summer tyre that is designed to provide an optimum balance between comfort and technical performance for luxury performance sedans.

A key characteristic of this new tyre is a double layer tread compound, which has been incorporated in order to enhance dry grip. The softer sub layer compound is only revealed after the tyre has been wearing for a while but helps maintain grip as the tyre wears. Meanwhile, wet grip and hydroplaning performance is enhanced by the tyre's four straight wide grooves.

Also contributing to wet performance, but additionally helping to reduce tread wear efficiently, are two sub-straight grooves on the tyre shoulder. Other tyre pattern features of the new tyre include tiny lateral grooves to reduce pattern noise, sipes on the tyre shoulder to reduce tyre block rigidity and lower road noise, and a new tread wear indicator on the centre rib.

The Ns-20 will be available in H, V, W and Y speed ratings in aspect ratios ranging from 55 to 35 series.

Kumho Introduces Eco-Friendly Tyres

Kumho has introduced a new eco-friendly tyre, SOLUS KH19. The new tyre is Kumho's flagship eco-friendly product and is based on proprietary technologies including KADAS (tyre structure simulation technology), ESCOT (tyre contour optimisation technology) and TTIA (tyre-terrain interaction analysis).

The tyre boasts a 35 per cent improvement in rolling resistance and a six per cent decrease in CO2 emissions. It is also made of more eco-friendly materials, including low PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) oils and non-petroleum fillers while an innovative (nature-based) tread pattern gives the SOLUS KH19 both a greener image and a smoother ride.

The new tyre will be available from this autumn.

New Tyre Ranges from Federal

Taiwanese tyre manufacturer Federal were exhibiting several new tyres at the recent Reifen 2008 exhibition in Germany. Firstly the company was launching the 595 RPM high performance tyre, a niche product targeted at the higher end of the market and which will be available in 18-21" sizes.

Also new was the track tyre FZ201, which is now also available for mass production. Federal were also exhibiting a number of new options in their Hero branded range, in particular the new Dynastorm A/T range of 4x4 tyres, a new van tyre pattern Vanteza VR2 and a new range of winter tyres called Alpaza, available as both a car and van tyre.
